Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique is Working Hard To Generate Maximum Revenue




LAHORE: Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique said on Monday that efforts were being made to generate maximum revenue from all areas of the department.

Highlighting the 110-day performance of Pakistan Railways here at Railways headquarters, he said that Pakistan Railways had achieved some initial success in three months adding that each employee of Pakistan Railways was committed to put the department on path to success.

When Bachelorette came to me, I was shooting four films back-to-back, and I couldn’t have let the producers’ money go to waste while I was busy honeymooning,” she claimed in a recent interview.

“No matter, main kitne bhi ishq-mohabbat karoon [how many times I fall in love], I will make sure that I marry the best man. But I don’t think this is the right time to look for Mr Right. I would like to concentrate on my career for a few years.”

Lahore: More than 20 Shops Burnt in Fire Erupts in Lunda Bazar

Lahore: A huge fire broke out in Lunda Bazar of the city in the evening on Monday, engulfing more than 20 nearby shops ARY News reports.


According to details, the fire erupted in a used-clothes market at Ferozepur Road which shortly set ablaze some 80 percent of the total shops located in the market. The shops were reported to be burnt to ashes.

Meanwhile, nine fire-tenders were dispatched to the locality, which are still busy cooling down the fire. Fire-brigade officials told that it will still take some 2 hours to completely overcome the fire.

The Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif while taking notice of the incident, directed the fire-brigade department to extinguish the fire as soon as possible. In the wake of the incident, authorities have also imposed an emergency at the General Hospital here.

Karachi Stock Exchange Loses 554 Points on Banking Sectors - September 30, 2013




KARACHI: Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) Monday lost a staggering 2.48 percent as banking sector witnessed constant offloading following an increase in minimum Profit and Loss Sharing (PLS) saving account rate by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The benchmark 100-Index went down by 554.63 points to close at 21,832.68 mark. At the end of the day most of the banking scrips closed at their lower circuit breakers whereas some cement stocks also declined by about 5 percent.

Analysts said that after witnessing a net foreign selling of $14 million last week investors feared that more selling to come to the market due to declining regional markets. National Bank of Pakistan went down by 4.99 percent to Rs49.29 while the United Bank Ltd shed 3.54 percent to settle at Rs133.

Nairobi Mall Attack 39 People Still Missing




NAIROBI (AP) - More than three dozen people remain unaccounted for almost a week after the end of the four-day terrorist attack on Nairobi s Westgate Mall that killed at least 67, the head of the Kenyan Red Cross said Monday.
The Red Cross  report of 39 missing people conflicts with the government s contention that there are no remaining missing people from the attack that began Sept. 21, and suggests that the death toll could still rise as investigators dig through the rubble of the partially collapsed mall.

Sony's PlayStation 4 beat Xbox One Pre-Orders Records



(Reuters) - More U.S. shoppers prefer Sony Corp's upcoming PlayStation 4 than Microsoft Corp's Xbox One, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, as the industry's two leading videogame console makers prepare to do battle this holiday season.

Asked about their interest in dedicated game devices, 26 percent of 1,297 people surveyed online last week say they are likely to purchase the new PlayStation 4 when available, versus 15 percent opting for the Xbox One.


Government Increases Power Tariff by Rs 5.89 Per Unit from October 01, 2013





ISLAMABAD - The government on Monday announced to increase electricity price by Rs 5.89 per unit for domestic consumers effective from October 1, 2013.

Domestic consumers using more than 200 units would be exempted from the increase however, those consuming up to 300 units would pay Rs 3,022 along with 10 paisa per unit as Nelum Jhelum surcharge, 1.5 % as tarrif, Rs 35 as TV fee and 17% as GST.

Rs 5,551 would be charged on consumption of 400 units while Rs 7,457 would be charged on consumption of 500 units.

The tariff for consumption of 600 units would be Rs 9,364 and Rs 11,270 for 700 units.

Meanwhile, a bill of Rs 13,413 would be charged on consumption of 800 units, Rs 15,556 on 900 units and Rs 17,699 on consumption of 1000 units.

Moreover, the consumers would separately pay the fuel adjustment charges imposed by NEPRA.
