Pakistan Attains Fourth Position in ICC Test Ranking

DUBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued the latest test ranking, Pakistan’s team got the fourth position while captain of national cricket team Misbah-ul-Haq has been promoted to the seventh position, ARY news reported on Friday.



 Misbah-ul-Haq has achieved his career-best rankings. The 39-year-old batsman was rewarded for his 100 and 28 not out with a jump of five places that has put him in seventh position, just one place and seven ratings points behind Younis Khan.

Furthermore, Asad Shafiq and Khurram Manzoor( player of the match in Abu Dhabi), have also made progressed in their ranking. Asad has gained nine places and is now in 25th position while Khurram's Test best score of 146 has given him a leap of 45 places and 52nd position in the latest rankings.

On the other hand South Africa's Hashim Amla, who gained five ratings points after scoring 118 runs in the first innings, by 15 ratings points, has maintained his top rank in the world ranking followed by his team mate AB de Villiers, who earned three ratings points after scoring 19 and 90, which has brought him ahead of West Indian Shivnarine Chanderpul.

Meanwhile, there is no change in bowlers ranking at the top 10 but Vernon Philander has become the 21st bowler and third from South Africa after Shaun Pollock (909) and Dale Steyn (908) to reach the 900-point mark. Saeed Ajmal maintained his fourth position while seamer Junaid Khan promoted to 22nd place.

Moreover, Pakistan handsome against Proteas provided them upward movement to fourth. Team Pakistan will remained at the same place irrespective of the result of second test because if the series ends in a draw, South Africa will finish on 131 points and Pakistan will end on 102 and one point ahead of the Australia.
