Islamabad: Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Nawaz Sharif is likely to appoint the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) today, Lieutenant General Haroon Aslam remains top contender for the post-ARY News reports.
According to details, the consultation for the post has entered into its final phase and the PM Nawaz Sharif is in touch with his close advisors in this regard.
The names of PAF Chief, Air Chief Marshall Tahir Rafiq Butt and Pakistan Navy's Admiral Asif Sandhela are also under consideration for the 2nd most prestigious office of the armed forces of Pakistan.
However, Lt. Gen. Haroon Aslam is most likely to take over the office. He is the Chief of Logistics Staff (CLS), of Pakistan Army. In past he has served as Director Military Operations, commanded Elite Force Division (Special Services Group) and Corps Commander of Bahawalpur. He was also responsible to lead the Operation Rah-E-Rast in 2009 in Swat.
The current CJCSC Gen. Khalid Shameem Wynne is due to retire from his service on October 6.
